P2- Adhering to the risk assessment

Several times we had to change our plans in order to adhere to the risk assessment. During our first planned week of filming, we had to cancel filming because of snow. We had put the chance of rain on our risk assessment and we'd deemed it too risky to continue filming during the rain, however we never even suspected that it would snow. The risks with the snow, like in the rain, were too high. There were slip hazards, the hazard that the crew and cast could get ill because of the cold, the risk that large bits of ice would fall and damage the equipment, as well as many others. Another time we had to explicitly think about the risk assessment was when we were filming the montage shot of the canal. There was the risk that a student and/or some equipment would slip and fall into the canal. In order to prevent this from happening, we made sure that all unnecessary crew were far away from the canal and that the crew that did need to be there were standing behind the fence. Also, we had to look at the risks when filming the shots on Parnell Road because it is a busy road with three types of bus and one of the actresses needed to cross the road in a particular shot. In order to prevent being run over, all unnecessary crew needed to be against the wall, as well as this, the actors were to only cross the road at the zebra crossing and when there was minimal traffic.
